Well I am sharing my cube with 2 new friends. Bill the Cat and Opus the Penguin. I have had Opus in my basement for awhile but thought it might be good to get him some air and he ended up here. Well he looked real lonely so I went out and found Bill the Cat for him to hang out with on E-Bay. He arrived yesterday and took up a place on the kitchen table starring at Avery..it freaked her out…so now the Bloom County 2 have made there homes here in my cube…..

For a long time I have always wanted to do 2 things:
1. Own and Run my own radio station
2. Own and Run my own comic book store.
Well I know that number 1 will never happen because my last name is no “Mr. Clear Channel”, but number 2 is starting to look good. Carolyn and I have been discussing it a lot in the last few days. We have started doing some research and asking others what they think. So far the people we have talked to seem to think it’s a good idea and have had there own ideas of how we can make the store a successful place. So more on this later…..

Spent the day yesterday working on getting restarted on my network documentation. I am one of those syadmins that just hate to document anything. But lately I have been thinking about it and realized that if I got hit by a bus or had to call in some one to fix something if I am out of town or something they wouldn’t be able to do anything. I am also trying to get it done so when I finally get around to OS upgrades it will be easier to know what each server is doing and how I have it set up. So in my research of looking for the best way to proceed with the documentation I found a neat site called rate my network diagram it’s a pretty cool site. I might just up load my diagram when I have it the way I want it.

On a personal note I got squirrel mail up and running on the webmail side of things. Now I have to get it working here on the Arora webmail site.

Tonights the LUG/IP meeting so I will be busy tonight…..

Off to shut down a WINS server……..

The Blues Brothers are playing live in my cube now. I got these right before Christmas they rock.

The weekend went well spent Sat morning at work working on some firewall issues and getting ready for this week. Spent the afternoon just taking it easy around the house. Watched two moves “Napoleon Dynamite” which I would recommend, we were rolling on the floor laughing. The other movie was “Sleepover” a teen movie that Avery wanted to see, it wasn’t that bad but I wouldn’t have even been to bummed if I never saw it at all.

Sunday was my monthly computer breakfast at Jac’s. Drove up with Chris and had a nice time seeing everyone. Got some jobs lined up with Jac so that should bring some money in. Got home around 1 and started getting the basement re cleaned. Ended up getting rid of a bunch of old computer I knew I was never going to use again. Also got rid of the Compaq Proliant Tower that I got from Jac a few months back but never had to time to get it going. I gave it to Chris who gladly came over and got it.

So now the work week begins again. I am off to Woodbury to upgrade a machine and bring the old one back and regohst it and send back out into the world to a new engineer.

Well it’s been a while going out on a computer repair it felt good getting the modem fixed and getting $45. It was a simple repair and then I cleaned up his machines of spybots and a bunch of viruses. Did make it back to Hoagie Haven to get a cheese steak sandwich with hot peppers on the way home last night. I think they have changed owners because they skimped on everything. It was still good though.

Yesterday at work it was pretty quiet waiting for the wins server to purge all the old address assignments and compress it’s database. Other then that just took care of stuff around the office. Spent last night after getting back working on an e-mail newsletter for LUG/IP. Sent out a test one to the officers and waiting for feed back.
