Family

First day off in awhile

Took the day off today..need a little break from work. My parents are in town for the next few days so I figured it would be a good day to take.

Spending the day hanging with family and coloring eggs….

I got a friend who is a little down due to some major loses in the last year so send some good/happy vibes and Karma her way…….this Karma shot is for you Gabs….

Have a good holiday weekend all.

I am adding a little new wrinkle to my entries by throwing little snip-its of lyrics at the end.

As the singer of the songs use to say:

I ain’t often right
but I’ve never been wrong
It seldom turns out the way
it does in the song
Once in a while
you get shown the light
in the strangest of places
if you look at it right

My Genealogy 1

I finally got time to work on my mother’s side of the family tree. The Martin-Pugh tree can be found by clicking the Genealogy link under the William’s Stuff section on the right. If you are from the family and have any info to add please send it to me and I will add it.

All this information came from my mom while we were sitting around during the Christmas holiday.

If you are from the Bilancio side of the family I will be adding that side later in the year.

A small moment of sadness

Carolyn’s dad Cuthebert Lee passed away this evening around 8:30pm. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Carolyn and her sister and his grand daughter Avery.

Visiting family rocks….

Spent the day on the road. The car as full with parents and children for the quick hop to Baltimore, MD area to see my cousin Alice. Of course with traffic it took a little longer then the normal 2 hours but it was ok.

We got there to the warm imbrase of Family. Most of the Merchent clan was there which always is a great thing.

Alice’s husband John had a great selection of beer…I deffinently trid to help put a dent into it. He also showed me his Big Green Egg. I am going to look into getting one of these smokers….

Dinner was a soul food delight. Colard greens, Blackeyed peas, Ham, a good great spinache and rice dish, a cabbage and peas salad the Beth made, and an Oyster cassarole. Dessert was a carrot cake, pecan pie that Al made.

It was great to see Alice and John who I hadn’t seen since a few family events back in the 90’s. It is always great to Al and his wife Cindy and family. I was also happy to see Beth before she went back to Moldovia….

Mom took some pictures and they are in the gallery.

Merry Christmas

Well the day is here and I am the only one up. I am sure this will be the last bit of quiet and alone time I will have today. My parents will be here soon to open gifts with us. Then it will be time to go to my Aunt and Uncles for brunch. Then I am back here to put together a great Christmas dinner.

I am sitting by the Christmas tree and it seems that the room has exploded with gifts. Carolyn and I have a few suprises for everyone this year. I can say that Carolyn got a great kitchen table and chair set that she wanted and she let me off the hook for getting her anything else.

Well I hear Avery up and moving up stairs so I know that soon the fun will begin.

SO MERRY CHRISTMAS from my family to you and yours

Scrambled eggs and fried pepper sandwich

I woke up this morning after only 5 hours sleep craving one of my grand-mom’s scrambled egg and fried pepper sandwich. See you take 2 slices (thick slices mind you) of Lou Bilancio’s homemade wheat bread. Then you take 2 bell peppers and 1 hot pepper cut them up and put them in a skillet to fry up. As they are frying break 4 large eggs in a bowl and beat add a little salt and ground black pepper to the egg mixture. When the peppers are soft and fried down, pour the egg mixture into the skillet with the peppers. Cook till eggs are done. Now remember those 2 slices of Lou’s bread? Put them on a plate right next to each other. Scoop the cooked egg and pepper mixture onto one piece of the bread. Cover with the other piece. Now Eat.

If you are making this for little children you can hold off on the hot pepper.

Another variant is to use slices of Italian Bread From Peoples Italian Bakery in the Burg and spoon little amounts onto the slices and eat it slowly and savor it…

My grandmother used to make this for us grandkids when we stayed over. She also used to send this sandwich with Henry and Tim for lunch at school. But that’s another story…

If you ever stop over my house bring some peppers and bread and I will make some up for ya…

Call first we may need eggs.

Mother State

Spent Thursday and Friday in my mother state Virginia. Unfortunately it was to go to a funeral of a great man and relative. My cousin Alice’s dad A. Ray Merchent passed away suddenly on Wed. So again my condolences goes out to the Merchent family. I got to see some relatives that I hadn’t seen in a real long time. The bummer was we were all supposed to get together after Christmas.

I got back this morning and went right out to get our Christmas tree. We will be decorating it tomorrow while the storm rages outside.

More later……

What A Christmas….

Christmas was a great success. Avery and Carolyn were very happy with there gifts. Carolyn was surprised with the diamond necklace. Carolyn got the Cool-It Personal Fridge for me, but forgot to get the A/C adapter. I ordered it on Monday and hoping it will be here before the end of the week so I can bring it in before the new year. I will be posting a picture of it in my cube and sending one to Thinkgeek.com for the Cool-It Personal Fridge page. Charlotte told Carolyn that Cuthbert and she had a great time at the house with us for Christmas. It was the best Christmas we have all had together. I think it was because Cuthbert is well and enjoying where he is living now.

Working on getting the DNS server up and running for work so I can get the mail server moved in house and off our crappy ISP. Hope to have it running by Friday and then I can get the mail server up and running by the middle of January.

Planning on spending the night at home with a sick Carolyn and playing with Avery.
