Today we mourn the death of one of the great basses of all time John Entwistle of The Who. He will be missed.

Last night we had a good storm that cooled everything down. So that meant no air conditioning in the bedroom. It was the best night sleep I had all week. I even over slept this morning. Thank goodness the cat started playing in the bedroom and woke me up.

Worst visit to the NY office I have had yet. The firewall box took a hit in route with Fed-Ex, so I had to get that put back together and working. Once I got it working and connected to the router. I could ping both sides of the router, but when I try to ping the name server no joy. The DSL line was down 2 days after the install. At least my install engineer at UUNET is cool and got right onto the problem. Now if I can only keep him past the 30 days for all the problems I know I am going to have with this DSL.. I hate the telecom situation in NY city.

Now Verizon has to come out and take a look because UUNET and Rhythms couldn’t even see the router but I had a green ready light.

Just plan to finish up the jabber server today and design a quick web page for it.

Woo hoo got the Jabber server running and working. now I just have to slap together a quick web page explaining how to do things. Hope to get most of the family using it.

Plane on working on the Lavignaonline.com site this weekend after I redo the laptop again, this time with Mandrake 8.* .

BTW the DSL in New York is back up. I am planing on going back up on Monday for a hour or so just to get things working and back to normal. More later….

Well off to New York to install Firewall. Shouldn’t be to bad.

Didn’t do much last night, just hung out with Avery and Carolyn and worked on the jabber server. Had to build and install the ICQv7-t module, the AIM module wasn’t passing the information from out in the real world to the server. It took about 20 min to get the v7-t module working and talking to the world. Now I just have to get the startup script Alan let me have working on the server.

Well off to the train station.

Forgot how much fun it is to have a kitten in the house. She is now so use to us and the house that she is climbing on us and all the furniture and playing with anything she can get her paws on.

Starting the hottest day of the week today. It’s already 77 at 8:17am. I almost have the jabber server working and have to test it. Another thanks to Arcterex for his input on it since he got his running a few weeks ago.

Working on the Firewall for the New York office’s DSL line. Going to try to get it shipped there today so I can go tomorrow and install it and be done with it. Then I can start the VPN project.

Veterinarian,Patio Furniture and rest

Took the kitten to the Dr. Chris. She got a clean bill of health and got her first 2 shots. Now that we know what sex she is her name is Morticia as in the Adams Family.

The patio furniture was delivered as well this morning. We picked out the St. Thomas set from Sears. It took me about an hour to get the table and chairs built.

Last night I got the licensing error fixed on the Checkpoint firewall. The upgrade to FW-1/VPN NG forgot to carry over the external.if file which defines the external card for the program.

I will start off with just my journal but will be adding some small things. I would like to thank Arcterex for letting me steal the code from his journal.

We picked up the kitten last night from my aunts house for Avery, but made the mistake of stopping at Pet Smart to look at the cats up for adoption and found out the cat Xavier was still there. Carolyn told me if it is still there on Sat we can get him. He has been in a cage for the last 3 months and he needs a good brushing and loving.

The kitten though loves the house,(we are still unsure of the sex so no name yet) and spent the evening just looking around and batting a plastic egg around on the floor.

Well the day is going well. Having to load win98 on the accounting machine so I can set it up to back up to Cd. Not much else going on. Finally got Network Solutions to accept the DNS change for arorapc.com.

What A Christmas….

Christmas was a great success. Avery and Carolyn were very happy with there gifts. Carolyn was surprised with the diamond necklace. Carolyn got the Cool-It Personal Fridge for me, but forgot to get the A/C adapter. I ordered it on Monday and hoping it will be here before the end of the week so I can bring it in before the new year. I will be posting a picture of it in my cube and sending one to Thinkgeek.com for the Cool-It Personal Fridge page. Charlotte told Carolyn that Cuthbert and she had a great time at the house with us for Christmas. It was the best Christmas we have all had together. I think it was because Cuthbert is well and enjoying where he is living now.

Working on getting the DNS server up and running for work so I can get the mail server moved in house and off our crappy ISP. Hope to have it running by Friday and then I can get the mail server up and running by the middle of January.

Planning on spending the night at home with a sick Carolyn and playing with Avery.

Christmas List and work

The weekend is here and I am just getting around to sitting down to the computer. Spent the evening last night just working on getting Carolyn’s Christmas list together so I could see what I need to get. I have also found a good show to watch on Friday night. It is on CBS at 9pm. It’s a police drama, so far it’s kept me coming back.

At work yesterday put the web site up. It’s at www.arorapc.com if your interested in seeing it. I also got the anti virus solution up and running. I hope to get it distributed to the client machines before Christmas.

Planning on spending the day working around the house in preparation of getting the Christmas tree tomorrow. Carolyn and I are planning on going to my companies holiday party tonight. Well more later if anything comes up.

Web and DNS work and Harry Potter

Well it’s been awhile. I have been busy working on the company web site. It should be ready in the next few hours. I need a break from it. I am going to start working on getting the DNS server working and up with one of the new domains we bought. I m going to try and get back into the habit of updating the journal. Finished the 3rd Harry Potter book this morning. I hope someone gets the 4th one for Avery.
