What an Easter weekend 1

What an Easter weekend. ..

My mom, Carolyn, Avery, and my youngest cousin Lou worked most of the day coloring Easter eggs while my dad de dandelion my back yard and allot of the neighborhood to get enough of them to make dandelion pie for Easter Dinner. In the afternoon my uncle Fran came over to recover my dining room chairs seats. As he was working on those my dad and I stood around as the 3 of us talked and just kicked back and had a good time. We ended up at my aunt Clora’s for a good fish meal cooked and eatin’ outside by the big fire that Fran had gotten going to keep us warm so Carolyn could join us due to her allergies from the dog hair.

Saturday was my parents 38th wedding anniversary so we took them to the Philadelphia Art Museum for the Manet at the Sea exhibited and then out to dinner at the United States oldest family owned Italian Restaurant. Nat and Del joined the Bilancio’s on this great journey into the city of Brotherly Love. You can read Nat’s view and experience of following me from the museum to the restaurant here. The dinner was fabulous. I had muscles in red sauce on Spaghetti..they were wonderful…..After dinner Nat and Del headed home and we headed to the car but made a nice stop at a local coffee house on the way.. Some of the best espresso I have had in a long time…..

Sunday started out a little rocky because I got up in a bad mood and some stuff on my mind that carried over to the great breakfast at my aunt Cloara’s house. It was a great breakfast with all the traditional Easter foods that my grand mom use to make. Pizza gain, Wheat pie, and others that I can’t think of right now. The breakfast broke up and I headed home to start cooking the Easter dinner that was going to be held at my house. We had a nice beef roast that had been marinating in a great red wine concoction, green beans, salad, fruit salad and more of the traditional foods left over from breakfast. Nat and Del, Fran, Lou, my aunt Bea, and my parents started showing up around 4 and the party kicked off. I found that the kitchen in the house can really only hold about 6 people….so Nat and Del sort of got juggled out of the kitchen while the Bilancio tribe all started to get into the cooking and talking old times.

We finally sat down around 5:30 to eat. After a great grace by my dad Nat introduced us to one of her family’s Easter tradition of egg breaking. You take an Easter egg and hold it and your neighbor takes his/ her egg and wakes the top of the egg the person who’s egg breaks loses and the winner moves on to the next person until there is only one unbroken egg. It came down to my Uncle and me..I am now Champion…
The food was passed and the wine was poured and the stories started to be told We heard allot of great ones about our grandparents and my dads family. It was a great time. Things broke up around 8pm with my dad, mom Fran and Lou and Bea heading out to the house. Fran and Lou were heading back to Michigan this morning around 4 and my parents were heading back this morning at a saner time…All in all it was a good weekend….no major blow ups between my mom and me or Carolyn. Avery had a good time with her cousin Lou and I felt proud to be able to host the Easter dinner this year…maybe next year we can get Clora and Dean to make it…..

Thanks all for coming and making it a great Easter this year…..

Bebop baby, how can this be
I know you’ve been out a cheating on me
Round and round and round and round
Don’t take much to get the word around
Cross my heart and hope to die
I was just hanging out with the other guys

First day off in awhile

Took the day off today..need a little break from work. My parents are in town for the next few days so I figured it would be a good day to take.

Spending the day hanging with family and coloring eggs….

I got a friend who is a little down due to some major loses in the last year so send some good/happy vibes and Karma her way…….this Karma shot is for you Gabs….

Have a good holiday weekend all.

I am adding a little new wrinkle to my entries by throwing little snip-its of lyrics at the end.

As the singer of the songs use to say:

I ain’t often right
but I’ve never been wrong
It seldom turns out the way
it does in the song
Once in a while
you get shown the light
in the strangest of places
if you look at it right

Happy April

First a big wow….3 weeks ago www.haverling.org went live. As of this morning, we had 177 alumni sign up. That is more then classmates.com has gotten since the beginning of the year.

I would like to say hi to an old friend who got in touch with me because of the site so hello Gabs…..

Been working in the office room the last few weekends. I got the walls painted and the laminated floor laid. I also got the crown molding installed and painted, I just have to put the rest of the trim up and I am done….then I can get the desks in and the computers set up.

My parents are coming on Thursday night to spend the weekend here for Easter. We are spending Sat. at the Monet exhibit and then out to dinner for there wedding anniversary. That’s it for now…..

A few new web sites that I have going….

Well in the last 6 months I have managed to get a 2 web sites done and running. The first one was for my Linux users group LUG/IP. This one took the longest because I did it all from scratch and by hand. But I am happy with the result. Also in the process we got the group incorporated as a non-profit and are just waiting for the letter from the IRS.

The second site was done more out of frustration. I set up a site from my high school alumni. Now I know you are thinking but, William you can just go to classmates.com and do that. Yes I could but I didn’t want to keep paying a yearly subscription for it. So I found another persons web site that did the same thing and had written some software to make the web site automatically. I tweaked it a little and added a message board. So take a look at it and if you are a Haverling High School Alumni put in you info so others from Haverling can get in touch with you the address is www.haverling.org.

Been a while

The machine got built and it is a sweet machine. I had to move it to the closet for the evening since yesterday was my daughters birthday and we had people over for Chinese food.

Today I get to go to a seminar on “Emergency Planning and Security for Businesses”.

The Mercer County Sheriff’s Office will join with the college in offering “Business Security Starts at the Front Door.” Participants will look at issues involving their physical plant, investigate alert and alarm systems and their costs, and review their plan of action, taking note of response times, training and practice. Human factors such as staff backgrounds and liabilities will be addressed, along with issues such as workplace violence, alcohol and drug counseling, and confidentiality.

I will give a brief report on it later this weekend.

All is well otherwise, should be a nice weekend working on the office space. Hopefully, I will get it painted and ready for the flooring to be laid.

Gotta run.

New Machine Design Again 3

Well I have my taxes to do and no machine to do them on so it’s time to build my machine.

Here are the specs:
Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe
AMD ATHLON 2800+ XP 512KB PROCESSOR – AXDA2800BOX.
2 512Meg Dual-Channel DDR 400 Dimms
2 Model: 6Y120M0 120GB Serial ATA SATA-150 8MB Cache 7200 RPM.
Pine PV T36KUA GeForce FX 5700 AGP 8x – 256 MB
ENERMAX SERVER CASE, W/300 WATT PS, BEIGE

I wanted to go AMD 64 but the prices are still to high. But I figured in a year or two I will up grade to one.

Now if I can just get the office done to put the machine.

Office move, Server Crash and life

I am alive and kicking. Just been real busy getting the serve back up and running. I am about 99% done with it. I still have to finish the Lavingaonline.com site. I lost the database for that one so I have decided to move it from postnuke to Movable type. No one was using any of the features except the photo gallery and back issues of the family news paper. So I moved them over and will be getting the site up either today or tomorrow.

In between all this I had to get the Harrisburg office moved into a bigger facility. I spent all day Sunday and most of the day Monday getting it done. They have everything but a connection to the Internet. I had to order a T-1 because verizon lied to the local carrier out there and then told them the day before the move that they couldn’t provide DSL because the switch wasn’t provisioned for it.

Other then that all things are going well. Once the Harrisburg thing is done I will be moving onto the XP roll out for the company and then the Server 2003 roll out after that.

Carolyn and I have also started the South Beach Diet. I am in need of losing at least 40 Lbs. I studied a bunch of the current diets. The South Beach one to me looks like the best one because it gets you eating right and doesn’t make you count calories or anything. Just really stay off the starchy foods and limit your sugar intake. We are currently in the middle of phase 1 and I am feeling a whole lot better. I have stopped drinking coke-colla for awhile so I hope that I can lose my 40 lbs.

My Genealogy 1

I finally got time to work on my mother’s side of the family tree. The Martin-Pugh tree can be found by clicking the Genealogy link under the William’s Stuff section on the right. If you are from the family and have any info to add please send it to me and I will add it.

All this information came from my mom while we were sitting around during the Christmas holiday.

If you are from the Bilancio side of the family I will be adding that side later in the year.

Machine Crash

Well after a server crash on Turesday. I lost most of the web site and other personal stuff. I got it backup and working in about 12 hours. I think the CPU fan died and then trashed the main hard drive. But I was lucky enough to have spare parts at home to throw at the machine. I got most of the services back running in the last few days.
